VIOLETS' GIVING CIRCLE

CAST LA

CAST LA (Coalition to Abolish Slavery & Trafficking) offers training in various fields to women and girls who have been victims of trafficking. These girls are empowered to then discuss the issue and advocate for the eradication of this, as well as other violations of human rights.

WRITEGIRL 

WriteGirl leverages the professional skills of women writers to mentor girls and inspire them to develop critical writing and speaking skills and the confidence to make an impact on the world around them. For 14 years, WriteGirl has helped its participants, primarily girls from high density, low-income neighborhoods in Los Angeles County, to graduate from high school and enroll in college. The grant WriteGirl received from Violets' Giving Circle will support the Bold Futures component of their successful mentoring program-- it will provide college entrance guidance, internships, job skills training, leadership development, and support for WriteGirl graduates who have enrolled in college. 

MOSTE 

MOSTE, or Motivating Our Students Through Experience, strives to empower and inspire girls from disadvantaged neighborhoods of the Los Angeles County to help them become college-educated young women. MOSTe provides young women with the tools they need to successfully graduate from four-year colleges, and to become successful in their chosen profession, and as leading and active members of their communities. 

WOMEN IN NON TRADITIONAL EMPLOYMENT ROLES (WINTER)

WINTER is an economic development agency and a national leader in diversity workforce development and education. WINTER works to extend opportunities to economically disadvantaged women and youth in Southern California and to empower them to achieve economic self-sufficiency. 

NEW VILLAGE GIRLS ACADEMY 

New Village is an all-girls charter school in Los Angeles that welcomes girls who would face difficulty completing their education in traditional schools. Many are pregnant or parenting, have histories of trauma and abuse, and are often far behind their peers in academic skills and credit completion. The grant Violet's Giving Circle gave to New Village is for New Village's college transition program, which provides critical support for students as they prepare to graduate and move to post-secondary institutions. The program includes guidance, mentoring, and financial assistance. 

CURRENT GRANT PARTNERS (2015-16)

HOMEBOY INDUSTRIES: HOMEGIRL CAFE

The money goes to supporting HomeGirl Café & Catering, one of Homeboy's six social enterprises. Homegirl Café helps high-risk and formerly gang-involved women--and a few men-- to become contributing members of their community through training in restaurant service and culinary arts. The Café does this through an 18-month training certificate program which empowers women to support themselves and their families.Type your paragraph here.

HERSHE
The HerShe Group Foundation Inc. helps girls in foster care systems find the support and love they need to be successful later on in life. Many guidance courses are offered to the girls including workforce training, health and wellness classes, and youth development. Their hope is when the girls leave the program they will be able to pursue both education and find a sustainable career.
