Serving the needs of underprivileged women and girls in Los Angeles since 2006

Violets' Giving Circle hosts a fashion show every two years to raise funds to donate during granting years. Our fashions shows consist of student designs, silent and live auctions, and local vendors.

Our board consists entirely of Marlborough School juniors and seniors. Marlborough is a private all-girls high school in Los Angeles.

Violets’ Giving Circle (VGC) is a student-initiated, donor advised philanthropic organization committed to furthering the educational opportunities of underprivileged women and girls in the Los Angeles area. Violets’ Giving Circle strives to provide leadership opportunities for its members while benefiting the community at large. Through fundraising and generous donations, VGC benefits small organizations with a similar mission.
Just as in 2006, the goal of Violets' Giving Circle has remained the same: to learn the practice of philanthropy while advocating and creating educational opportunities for underprivileged women and girls in the Los Angeles area. Violets' Giving Circle is a donor advised fund under the umbrella of the Women's Foundation of California, a certified 501(c)3, so all donations to VGC are tax-deductible. Through corporate sponsorship, private donations, and school wide fundraisers including fashion shows, arts exhibitions, and auctions, VGC has donated over $200,000 to organizations supporting underprivileged women and girls in Los Angeles. We carefully review grant proposals and conduct site visits in order to allocate the money to organizations that we feel match our mission statement.
